KILOGEAR CUT Partners with GF Mom Certified to Bring Awareness to Cardio Metabolic Syndrome
As we approach World Diabetes Day, November 14th, I would like to share an issue close to my heart and my family. As a wife and busy mother it can be really challenging when someone is struggling with a chronic health condition. It is important to find the resources and support needed when dealing with serious health issues. One of the conditions my family has experienced first hand is Cardio Metabolic Syndrome. Cardio Metabolic Syndrome is now one of the most common syndromes in the United States, and yet we are not talking about it enough. I hope to share with the community the warning signs, consequences, and best treatments to help your family avoid this condition.
According to Heart.org metabolic syndrome is a cluster of conditions, many of which are determined with lab work and biometric data. To diagnose metabolic syndrome, most doctors look for at least 3 of the 5 components.
- Waist circumferences for men are greater than 40 inches, or for women greater than 35 inches.
- Triglycerides greater or equal to 150 mg/dL
- HDL cholesterol for men are less than 40 mg/dL, or for women less than 50 mg/dL
- Blood pressure greater or equal to 130/85 mmHg
- Fasting glucose greater or equal to 100 mg/dL
These 5 warning signs should not be ignored even in children and young adults. Early treatment is key to prevent cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and stokes. Additionally, a variety of factors may increase the likelihood of developing cardio metabolic syndrome including: celiac disease, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), schizophrenia and stress.
The most popular treatment for Cardio Metabolic Syndrome conditions is improved exercise routine. Research suggests 30 minutes of physical movement 5 days a week to significantly reduce blood pressure and blood sugar. One way to increase the effectiveness of the EPOC phase is to utilize weight resistant clothing like KILOGEAR CUT. KILOGEAR CUT increases a personβs ability to burn more calories by activating key muscle groups. Adding extra weight makes the muscles work harder throughout your body. Slip-on a KILOGEAR CUT piece and burn extra calories throughout the day, without changing a single part of your lifestyle.
Another popular treatment for Cardio Metabolic Syndrome is nutritional therapy. A review of 50 studies on the Mediterranean diet reported that this way of eating changes parameters of Cardio Metabolic Syndrome, such as waist circumference, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, triglycerides, systolic and diastolic blood pressure, and glucose. Unlike restrictive diets, this style of therapy focuses on the many nutrient dense foods you can eat with no limit to calories when consuming the foods from the plan. This is the same diet I recommend to my clients in our new 9-week Hacking Your Health program. When this diet is paired with physical movement it increases the ability for cells to open up the pathways to burn glucose and reduce blood sugar over time.

Cardio Metabolic Syndrome is treatable and preventable with the proper food and lifestyle wellness strategies. If you are someone who has 3 of the 5 warning signs, I invite you to reach out today for a consultation to see if the functional medicine approach is right for you.
