Sugar-Free & Allergen Friendly Namaste Banana Apple Muffins
by Tiffany Hinton, GF Mom Certified
My family and I love to bake. But sometimes, like right after the holidays, or during a detoxification challenge, our bodies need a break from sugars and other inflammatory foods. These muffins are perfect for a family weekend breakfast during our Hacking Your Health Detox. They make a healthy “cheat option,” and the kids enjoy helping prepare them. This recipe is easy to prepare for even the newest of allergen friendly bakers.
For a sugar-free item, these muffins have a sweet tooth! My family and I add maple syrup, as it is a natural sweetener that does not affect the brain or blood sugar balance while detoxing and healing. The maple syrup adds a buttery and nutty flavor similar to brown sugar, and balances perfectly with the fruit sugars from the banana and diced apples. The browner the banana the sweeter the flavor in your muffins. Another perfect use for those spotty bananas. Let me know what you think by tagging @gfmomcertified in your home baking photos. Happy and healthy baking!
